177/365, #61: Companions

Swimming Companions :-)
My niece and nephew came to visit over the weekend and we spent MANY hours in the pool! That put me a few days behind in my blog posting but I'll get caught up again with this series of photos.

176/365, #143: Harvest

It's finished (see this post)!  Almost time to harvest the 1st tomato off the vine. :-)

175/365, #275: Sense of Motion

This is cropped a lot!  Look carefully (click to enlarge) to see this hummingbird's wings--quick motion!

174/365, #273: Seeds

The birds will eat these sunflower seeds as soon as the flower opens!

173/365, Straight (My own theme)

As opposed to haphazard (see previous post), these daisies were growing straight and tall!  I love the contrast of the blue water in the background and the bright white flowers.

172/365, #142: Haphazard

I was trying to get a shot of a butterfly on these flowers yesterday, but the butterfly wouldn't cooperate!  Then I noticed how pretty the flowers looked against the blue of the pool.

Notice how the flowers are tall, short, straight, tilted--haphazard!

168/365, #1: One Hundred

Okay, so I really didn't count all of the little flowers on this hydrangea, but there must be 100 there! :-)  And at almost the half-way point of the year, it's getting harder to find just the right photos for the themes without getting more creative!

My nephew's car was behind in this race.

165/365, #132: Growing

The blooms on our trumpet vine are growing every day. I'm ready for them to open up and hopefully I'll be able to get a shot of the hummingbirds that will come!

161/365, #67: Costume

Devin's tap dance was "Happy Tappin' with Elmo." There was another little girl directly behind her but I fixed that! ;-)

159/365, #7: Accessories

This is my "niece" at her dance recital Saturday evening.  Not the best quality photo, but the theater was dark!

Her accessories included sequined armbands, a tutu, and ballet shoes.
More to come...

158/365, #348: Vapor

No, not a bad shot but a foggy morning!
Click for larger view.
When we woke up and it was so foggy out, I told my husband that I needed to get a shot for the "vapor" theme. I looked out and saw this Eastern Bluebird sitting on top of the trellis with my black-eyed susan vines and grabbed the camera. This is a favorite resting spot for the bluebirds (we have a nesting box for them on the fence directly below this pot so you can't see it in the photo). I love seeing them there but don't like the mess they create on the vines. (You know what the mess is, right? ;-))
The inset is a shot I got of just the top of the trellis, cropped of course.

156/365, #89: Faded

I like the way the sun was shining through this faded osteospermum or Cape Daisy.

155/365, #343: Unfinished

Look closely and you'll see 2 "unfinished" tomatoes growing on this vine in a pot on our patio. I can't wait until they are red and ripe (and larger, of course!) and we can enjoy them.

151/365, #338: Triangle

I'm sure our neighbors wondered why I was on a ladder taking a pic of this pot of flowers! The things we will do for a shot...
This triangle-shaped trellis has a couple black-eyed susan vines growing on it. I can already tell that the vines are going to crowd out the verbena that I also planted in the pot. I'll need to replant them soon.

The solar cover for our pool has lots of polka dots! :-)

147/365, #78: Distorted

I got home from a 3-day work trip today and my husband told me to get my camera and come outside with him. This snake skin was on our front sidewalk. Of course, I thought it looked 6 or 7 feet long! (He said it's just about 4 1/2.)

I really don't want to see the snake, I hope it shed its skin and slithered to someone else's yard!

146/365, #260: Rest in Peace

This is a small part of the cemetery that is beside Bethlehem United Methodist. The larger stone is dated 1865. It's difficult to read the dates on the others.
