There were several people ice fishing on the frozen Greenbo Lake today. The air temperature was about 60 degrees, I wonder what the water temperature was?

Another example of the destruction of the ice storm we had at the end of January. Logs like this are everywhere.

These ducks at Grayson Lake are walking ON the frozen water!

This boat at Greenbo Lake State Park isn't going anywhere since the lake is frozen--it's stuck!

This curly slide on a boat at Grayson Lake State Park would be fun in the summer, but right now it would be cold and hard since the lake is frozen!

A trio of trees, all weighed down by the snow and ice.

26/365, #363: Winter

I think this is the 3rd photo I've posted of this tree in our yard--yes, there are other trees! (This one is just my favorite.)

I took this yesterday, after 4" of snow, about 1/2" of ice, rain, and then more snow on top of all of that. It makes for beautiful scenery but is not so great on the roads and the power lines.

I'll add more about our winter weather soon.

I'm trying to eat healthier foods this year, so I make sure I have fresh fruit on hand for a snack.

I shot this several times to get the reflection like I wanted it.

24/265, #289: Smoke

This house is at the end of our street. I heard the sirens yesterday and looked out and saw all of this smoke! So of course I got my camera out. Luckily, it was just an outbuilding behind the house and not the house that was on fire. I wish all of the power lines weren't in the photo.

23/365, #116: Futuristic

This is the Center for Advanced Imaging at King's Daughters Medical Center. (It was hard to get a good photo of the building without getting the electric poles and wires.) This is probably the most "futuristic" building in Ashland.

Across the street from Central Park is one of our local hospitals, King's Daughters Medical Center. This sculpture is in front of the Dr. Richard E. Paulus Heart and Vascular Center. (Yes, that's ice at the bottom of the sculpture!)

I finally got outside to take some photos today! It was an unusual 60 degrees after being really cold for several weeks.

This is the pond at Central Park in Ashland. In the summer there are beautiful fountains but right now it's partly frozen--so up went the danger signs!

I am soooo ready for some warmer weather so I can get outside and take photos. In the meantime, here is another one taken in my house.

This wreath was given to me by my kindergarten class when I got married almost 20 years ago.

I took this photo at a baby shower yesterday. The cupcakes looked yummy, but I resisted having one! Don't you just love the colors?

When we planted this Japanese Maple in our front yard several years ago, the trunk was as big around as my finger. It's grown round but not very tall (maybe 4 1/2 feet) and is really pretty and full in the summer. The trunk is definitely bent! (You've seen the bird's nest in another blog post.) This photo could also fit the snow theme.

I've had this angel for about 18 years, she was given to me by my late aunt so holds a special place in my heart. Even though her dress has poinsettias on it, she stays in my dining room throughout the year.

Experimenting with depth of field. The white balance is off and the photo is underexposed, but I decided that set the "mood" for the theme!

This mural is on Ashland's flood wall, painted by Denise Spaulding. The paintings are amazing! (The dead grass in front of it takes away from the mural, but it's winter here!)

Another shot from our trip to the river yesterday. This probably started out as a road somewhere! The city of Ashland is going to develop the riverfront and is gathering old concrete to use as a base.

I thought this one could also be used as "What Am I?"

These bridges lead into and out of Ohio from Ashland, Kentucky. I liked the reflection of them in the Ohio River in this photo that I took today.

It was cool outside yesterday (in the 30s), but the sky was very blue.

Not the best photo, but I thought today's Hi and Lois was perfect for this theme and for the first "official" photo of my 365 in 2009. It's a whole new year and I'm going to try to "fill 'er up" (fill my blog with 365 photos)!
